Performance
The Google Tensor G4 works with a generous 16GB RAM, giving the Pixel 9 Pro strong performance for:
- Multitasking
- Photography
- Video editing
- Social media
- Streaming
- AI features
- Productivity
- Mobile gaming
Tensor G4 is especially focused on Google’s AI and computational-photography features rather than maximum benchmark performance.
6.3-Inch LTPO OLED Display
The Pixel 9 Pro uses a 6.3-inch 1280 × 2856 Super Actua LTPO OLED display.
Its adaptive refresh rate ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz, helping provide smooth scrolling while reducing power consumption when a high refresh rate isn’t necessary.
Google rates brightness at up to 2,000 nits HDR and 3,000 nits peak brightness.
The compact display is excellent for users who want flagship specifications without a huge phone.
Pro Triple Camera
The camera system is one of the Pixel 9 Pro’s biggest strengths.
50MP Main Camera
48MP Ultra-Wide with Macro Focus
48MP Telephoto with 5x Optical Zoom
The telephoto camera also enables Super Res Zoom up to 30x.
This makes the Pixel 9 Pro far more versatile than the regular Pixel 9, especially for portraits, travel photography and distant subjects.
42MP Selfie Camera
Google includes a high-resolution 42MP front camera with autofocus and a wide 103° field of view.
It is particularly useful for:
- Group selfies
- Video calls
- Social media
- 4K selfie video
Pixel Camera & AI Features
The Pixel 9 Pro includes Google’s advanced camera tools:
- Night Sight
- Astrophotography
- Add Me
- Macro Focus
- Best Take
- Magic Eraser
- Photo Unblur
- Zoom Enhance
- Pro Controls
These software features remain one of the biggest reasons to choose a Pixel phone.
Video
The rear cameras support 4K recording at up to 60fps.
Google also offers 8K video at 30fps using Video Boost, plus:
- Night Sight Video
- Audio Magic Eraser
- 10-bit HDR video
- Macro Focus Video
- Cinematic Blur
- Video stabilization
The distinction is important: 8K relies on Google’s Video Boost processing rather than standard on-device 8K capture.
Battery Life
The Pixel 9 Pro uses a 4,700mAh battery.
Google rates it for 24+ hours of normal use and up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver, depending on usage.
Fast wired charging reaches up to 27W, with Google claiming around 55% in approximately 30 minutes using its 45W charger.
Wireless charging reaches up to 21W with the second-generation Pixel Stand and up to 12W with compatible Qi EPP chargers.
128GB Storage
This version includes:
128GB Storage
16GB RAM
The RAM capacity is excellent, but 128GB storage feels limited for a Pro-level camera phone, especially if you shoot lots of photos and 4K video.
Google also offers 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions.
There is no microSD expansion.
Dual SIM & Connectivity
The Pixel 9 Pro supports Dual SIM using one Nano-SIM and an eSIM.
Connectivity includes:
- 5G
- Wi-Fi 7
- Bluetooth 5.3
- NFC
- Ultra-Wideband
- USB-C
Design & Durability
The Pixel 9 Pro weighs 199g and uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back.
It also carries an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
The Obsidian finish provides the darker, more understated option in the Pixel 9 Pro lineup.
Software Support
Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates from the phone’s original availability.
That gives the Pixel 9 Pro excellent long-term software support.

Verdict
The Google Pixel 9 Pro is an excellent compact flagship for photography, AI features and long-term Android support.
Its 50MP main camera, 48MP ultra-wide, 48MP 5x telephoto, 42MP selfie camera and excellent LTPO display make it much more capable than a typical compact smartphone.
The main weakness of this particular configuration is the 128GB storage, which feels restrictive for a phone focused heavily on photography and video.
For users who want Pixel Pro cameras and features without moving to a huge phone, the Pixel 9 Pro offers an excellent package.
