The Dell XPS 13 9350 with the 13.4-inch 3K OLED display is built around a simple idea: combine one of the most beautiful displays available in an ultraportable Windows laptop with premium construction, strong Intel Lunar Lake efficiency, and a remarkably compact chassis.
The OLED configuration pairs a 2880 × 1800 touchscreen with Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors, Intel Arc graphics, fast LPDDR5X memory, and PCIe SSD storage. Dell’s current Canadian configuration includes a Core Ultra 7 258V, 32GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD.
The display is unquestionably the star.
Colours are extremely vivid, black levels are essentially perfect, and the 3K resolution makes text and images look exceptionally sharp. Independent testing found the OLED panel capable of covering an enormous 144.6% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
But the XPS 13 isn’t without controversial decisions.
Dell gives you only two Thunderbolt 4 ports, there is no headphone jack, the capacitive function row divides opinion, and the nearly invisible haptic trackpad takes some adjustment. Most importantly, choosing the OLED display significantly reduces battery life compared with the lower-resolution LCD version.
That makes this a laptop for buyers who prioritize display quality and portability over maximum endurance and connectivity.

Dell currently lists the 13.4-inch OLED configuration with a Core Ultra 7 258V, 32GB LPDDR5X memory, 1TB SSD and 2880 × 1800 touch OLED display.
Design: One of the Sleekest Windows Laptops
Dell has spent years positioning XPS as its premium consumer notebook family, and the XPS 13 still looks the part.
The CNC-machined aluminum chassis is extremely clean and minimalist. Dell lists the OLED version at approximately 0.58 inches thick and 2.6 pounds, making it exceptionally easy to carry.
At just 11.62 inches wide and 7.84 inches deep, it occupies very little space in a backpack.
This is exactly the type of laptop that works well for:
- frequent travelers
- university students
- commuters
- remote workers
- coffee-shop working
- business trips
Build quality is excellent.
The aluminum chassis feels rigid, with little flex or creaking. The Verge similarly praised the machine’s sturdy construction despite criticizing several of Dell’s input-design decisions.
The nearly edge-to-edge keyboard, hidden touchpad boundaries, thin display bezels, and capacitive function row create a futuristic appearance.
Whether you actually enjoy using all of those design decisions is a different question.

13.4-Inch 3K OLED Display: The Main Reason to Buy It
If there is one reason to choose this version of the XPS 13, it is the screen.
The optional 13.4-inch 3K OLED touchscreen has a resolution of 2880 × 1800 pixels.
The high pixel density makes:
- text look extremely sharp
- photos appear detailed
- icons look smooth
- movies appear more cinematic
- websites look exceptionally clean
But OLED technology matters even more than resolution.
Unlike conventional LCD displays that require a backlight, OLED pixels can switch themselves completely off.
That produces exceptionally deep blacks and effectively eliminates the grey-looking blacks commonly seen on LCD panels.
The result is excellent contrast.
Dark movies look better.
Photos gain more depth.
Windows dark mode looks fantastic.
And colourful content can appear almost printed directly onto the glass.
Exceptional Colour Reproduction
Laptop Mag measured the OLED panel at an enormous 144.6% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, compared with only 69.9% for the tested IPS version.
That difference is substantial.
For photographers and content creators, the OLED version is easily the more visually impressive XPS 13.
The wide colour range also makes everyday entertainment more enjoyable.
Netflix.
YouTube.
Photos.
Games.
Even ordinary websites can look richer.
Laptop Mag ultimately selected the OLED XPS 13 as its Dell laptop choice for best display quality.
Display Score: 9.7/10
Display Brightness: Good, Not Class-Leading
OLED’s biggest advantage here is contrast rather than extreme brightness.
Laptop Mag measured approximately 377 nits from its OLED test unit. The Verge measured roughly 455 nits on its sample.
That is sufficient for most indoor environments and many bright rooms.
However, direct outdoor sunlight remains challenging because the touchscreen surface can reflect surrounding light.
This is not the brightest premium laptop screen available.
It is simply one of the most visually striking.
The OLED Screen Is Only 60Hz
There is one disappointment.
The 3K OLED panel runs at 60Hz.
Dell’s lower-resolution LCD configuration can reach 120Hz, creating an unusual trade-off:

Intel Core Ultra 7 258V Performance
The OLED configuration is available with Intel’s Core Ultra 7 258V Series 2 processor, an eight-core Lunar Lake chip paired with integrated Intel Arc graphics.
This processor emphasizes efficiency as much as outright performance.
For everyday workloads, the XPS 13 feels fast.
It comfortably handles:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Office
- WordPress
- Photoshop
- Lightroom
- Zoom
- Teams
- Slack
- Spotify
- web development
- programming
- general multitasking
The Verge found Lunar Lake performance responsive even while running applications across multiple virtual desktops.
Laptop Mag recorded a Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 11,033 for its OLED XPS 13 configuration.
That is good performance for a machine focused primarily on portability.

Where Performance Has Limits
The XPS 13 is not designed to replace a high-performance workstation.
Its eight-core processor and integrated graphics are ideal for efficient portable computing rather than heavy sustained workloads.
If your daily work consists of:
- professional 3D rendering
- heavy 4K/8K video production
- large engineering simulations
- complex AI models
- intensive gaming
there are much more appropriate laptops.
Dell’s own larger performance machines and dedicated workstation/gaming systems provide stronger cooling and discrete GPU options.
The XPS 13 is at its best when speed, portability and efficiency need to coexist.

Intel Arc Graphics: Better Than Basic Integrated Graphics
Intel’s integrated Arc graphics are significantly more capable than the weak integrated graphics associated with older ultraportable Intel notebooks.
Laptop Mag recorded 53 fps in Civilization VI at 1080p Medium from its XPS 13 OLED test system.
That means casual gaming is entirely realistic.
Games such as:
- Minecraft
- League of Legends
- Civilization
- older AAA games
- indie games
- lighter esports titles
can work well with sensible settings.
But this is not an RTX gaming laptop.
Modern AAA games at native 2880 × 1800 resolution are far beyond what you should expect from integrated Arc graphics.

32GB RAM Is Excellent for an Ultraportable
The current high-end OLED configuration listed by Dell Canada pairs the Core Ultra 7 258V with 32GB of LPDDR5X memory.
That is an excellent amount for a 13-inch productivity laptop.
32GB gives you plenty of room for:
- dozens of browser tabs
- Photoshop
- Lightroom
- development tools
- large spreadsheets
- multitasking
- moderate virtual-machine use
The memory is integrated, however, so you should select the capacity you need at purchase rather than expecting an upgrade later.
For this class of premium machine, 32GB is our preferred configuration for buyers planning to keep the laptop for several years.
1TB SSD Is the Right Capacity
Dell currently pairs its Canadian 3K OLED configuration with a 1TB PCIe SSD.
That is a good balance.
512GB can work for cloud-oriented users, but 1TB provides much more breathing room for:
- photos
- applications
- local documents
- video
- music
- development projects
- offline files
Laptop Mag recorded approximately 1,513 MB/s in its SSD transfer benchmark.
It isn’t the fastest storage result among premium laptops, but it is more than quick enough for everyday productivity.
Battery Life: OLED’s Biggest Compromise
This is where the OLED model takes its biggest hit.
Dell equips the XPS 13 with a 55Wh integrated battery.
Intel Lunar Lake itself is impressively efficient.
The problem is that pushing 2880 × 1800 pixels on an OLED display consumes considerably more energy than driving Dell’s lower-resolution LCD panel.
Laptop Mag recorded:
XPS 13 OLED: 8 hours 40 minutes
versus
XPS 13 non-OLED: 18 hours 43 minutes.
That is an enormous difference.
The Verge achieved better results, reporting more than 12 hours in its OLED battery rundown test and describing the machine as capable of getting through typical eight-to-ten-hour workdays in its use.
Different testing methods explain some variation, but the conclusion remains the same:
The OLED display costs you battery life.
If battery endurance is the number-one priority, don’t buy the OLED solely because it looks better.
If display quality matters more, the trade-off may be completely worthwhile.

Keyboard: Beautiful but Controversial
Dell extends the keyboard almost completely across the laptop’s width.
The keycaps have very small spaces between them, creating a clean, futuristic appearance.
However, this design is not universally comfortable.
Laptop Mag described the keyboard as cramped, while The Verge was substantially more critical of its typing feel.
This is one of those components you should ideally try before buying.
Some users may adapt quickly.
Others may strongly prefer the more conventional keyboards found on Lenovo ThinkPads, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop, or Apple’s MacBook Air.
Capacitive Function Row
Above the keyboard is another controversial feature.
Instead of traditional physical function keys, Dell uses a capacitive touch function row.
The displayed controls change between function shortcuts and multimedia commands.
Visually, it looks futuristic.
Functionally, physical keys would arguably be easier to use without looking down.
The Verge specifically criticized this design and the absence of a conventional physical Escape key.
For casual users, it may be a minor annoyance.
For programmers and power users who rely heavily on function keys and Escape, it can become much more significant.
Invisible Haptic Trackpad
Dell has also removed the visible border around the trackpad.
The entire palm-rest area appears almost seamless.
The actual touch-sensitive region uses haptic feedback rather than a conventional mechanical click.
It looks fantastic.
But there is a learning curve because you cannot immediately see where the trackpad begins and ends.
The Verge found this design prone to accidental clicks during its testing.
Once accustomed to it, the trackpad itself can feel smooth and modern.
Still, traditional visible boundaries would make it easier to use.

Ports: The Biggest Practical Weakness
The XPS 13 gives you just:
2 × Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C
Both support power delivery and DisplayPort.
And that is essentially it.
There is no:
- USB-A
- HDMI
- SD card reader
- microSD
- Ethernet
- 3.5mm headphone jack
That last omission is particularly frustrating.
You may end up needing a USB-C adapter simply to connect conventional wired headphones.
For photographers, office users and people connecting multiple peripherals, a USB-C or Thunderbolt dock becomes nearly mandatory.
The minimal port selection allows Dell to maintain the clean ultra-thin chassis, but usability suffers.

Dell equips the XPS 13 with Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Wi-Fi 7 is particularly welcome on a premium laptop expected to remain in use for several years.
You will need a compatible router and network to take full advantage of it, but the hardware is ready as Wi-Fi 7 adoption becomes more common.

1080p Webcam and Windows Hello
Dell includes a 1080p FHD webcam capable of 30 fps, along with an infrared camera for authentication.
The Verge found the webcam noticeably improved and capable of producing a sharp picture during testing.

it performs well.
Windows Hello facial recognition also makes unlocking the laptop extremely convenient.
Speakers
Dell uses a quad-speaker system rated at 8W total output.
Independent impressions are mixed. Laptop Mag considered the speaker performance impactful, while The Verge was much less impressed.
For such a compact chassis, the speakers are adequate for:
- YouTube
- video calls
- podcasts
- casual music
- streaming
But buyers prioritizing rich built-in audio may still prefer a MacBook.

The XPS 13 makes a lot of sense for students.
At roughly 2.6 pounds, it is very easy to carry between classes.

The concern is battery life.
Students who spend entire days away from an outlet may prefer Dell’s lower-resolution LCD version.
Dell XPS 13 OLED for Business
For mobile business users, the design is excellent.
It is small enough to carry virtually anywhere while offering strong productivity performance, a 1080p webcam, Wi-Fi 7, Windows Hello support, and a high-quality display.
The biggest problem is connectivity.
If you regularly present through HDMI or connect USB-A accessories, carry a USB-C hub.
Dell XPS 13 OLED for Photo Editing
This is one of its strongest use cases.
The 3K resolution and extremely wide colour gamut make photography look excellent. Laptop Mag measured 144.6% DCI-P3 coverage from the OLED panel.
Intel Arc graphics and Core Ultra 7 performance are sufficient for mobile Lightroom and Photoshop work.
The lack of an SD card reader is unfortunate.
Photographers will need an adapter.
Dell XPS 13 OLED for Video Editing
Moderate video editing is possible.
Short 1080p and lighter 4K projects should be manageable, especially when paired with 32GB of RAM.
However, the XPS 13 isn’t designed around heavy sustained rendering.
If professional video editing is your primary workload, a larger laptop with stronger cooling and dedicated graphics—or a MacBook Pro—is a better tool.
Dell XPS 13 OLED for Programming
The processor and 32GB memory configuration make it perfectly capable for development.
However, programmers should pay particular attention to the keyboard.
The capacitive function row and unconventional Escape-key implementation may bother developers who frequently rely on keyboard shortcuts. The Verge identified these controls as significant usability weaknesses.
If possible, try the keyboard before buying.
Gaming Performance
Integrated Intel Arc graphics make the XPS 13 better at gaming than its ultra-thin appearance suggests.
Laptop Mag recorded approximately 53 fps in Civilization VI at 1080p Medium.
That is respectable.
But the 3K native resolution is far too demanding for integrated graphics in modern AAA titles.
For gaming, expect to lower:

- up to 120Hz refresh
- lower price

Laptop Mag’s testing illustrates the trade-off perfectly: its OLED configuration lasted 8:40, while its non-OLED XPS 13 lasted 18:43.
For us, the OLED is worth choosing only if display quality is one of your primary reasons for buying the XPS.
Important 2026 Buying Context
Dell has introduced a newer 2026 XPS 13 generation with a redesigned traditional keyboard and a 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen instead of this model’s 3K OLED option. Dell’s current U.S. listing shows the new generation starting considerably lower in price than previous premium XPS models.
That changes the value equation.
The XPS 13 9350 OLED remains the model to buy if you specifically want the 3K OLED experience.
But in 2026, we would strongly look for it on sale rather than automatically paying its original premium price.
Dell Canada was still listing a Core Ultra 7 258V / 32GB / 1TB / 3K OLED configuration at the time of this review.

Yes—but primarily for the display.
The XPS 13 OLED remains visually impressive even as newer laptops enter the market.

still creates a very attractive premium ultraportable.
But the flaws are real.

The arrival of Dell’s newer 2026 XPS 13 also means we would be reluctant to pay full premium pricing for the older 9350.
At a good sale or clearance price, however, it becomes much easier to recommend.

Its OLED display is spectacular.
