Snapdragon 695 Performance
The Galaxy Tab A9+ uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G platform with Adreno 619 graphics.
It is significantly more capable than many entry-level tablet processors and works well for:
- Web browsing
- YouTube
- Netflix
- Social media
- Google Docs
- Video calls
- Light gaming
- Samsung DeX
Independent testing found the Snapdragon 695 strong enough for everyday Android use and noticeably faster than the older Galaxy Tab A8.
4GB RAM
The biggest limitation of this version is its 4GB of RAM.
That is enough for basic use, but heavier multitasking can cause apps to reload more frequently.
For users who regularly use multiple apps at once, the 8GB / 128GB version is the better choice when available.
11-Inch 90Hz Display
The Tab A9+ features an 11-inch TFT LCD with:
1920 × 1200 resolution
Up to 90Hz refresh rate
The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations feel smoother than cheaper 60Hz tablets.
However, this is still a basic LCD rather than an AMOLED panel.
5G Cellular Connectivity
The 5G version includes cellular connectivity, allowing internet access away from Wi-Fi with a compatible carrier plan.
Samsung’s Canadian specification lists support for a broad range of LTE and sub-6GHz 5G bands including n2, n5, n25, n41, n66, n71, n77 and n78.
That makes it more flexible than Wi-Fi-only tablets.
However, buyers purchasing an imported or “unlocked” US model should still verify compatibility with their specific carrier before buying.
64GB Storage
Internal storage is only 64GB.
Samsung lists around 44.5GB available on some 64GB variants after system files and preinstalled software.
Fortunately, there is a microSD slot supporting cards up to:
1TB
This is excellent for:
- Movies
- Photos
- Music
- Documents
However, microSD storage generally cannot replace internal storage for every application.
Android 16 / One UI 8 Support
The Tab A9+ originally launched with Android 13.
By 2026, Samsung has rolled out Android 16 / One UI 8 to supported Galaxy Tab A9+ variants, although rollout timing can vary by carrier and region.
That improves the tablet’s value because it is still receiving major software updates years after launch.
Samsung DeX
The Galaxy Tab A9+ supports Samsung DeX.
DeX provides a desktop-style interface with resizable windows and better multitasking.
Samsung also allows up to three apps on screen simultaneously.
The 4GB RAM configuration can handle basic DeX use, but the 8GB version is much better suited to serious multitasking.
Quad Speakers
One of the strongest entertainment features is the quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos.
Four speakers provide better stereo separation than many inexpensive tablets.
For Netflix, YouTube and casual gaming, audio quality is surprisingly strong for the price category.
3.5mm Headphone Jack
Unlike many premium tablets, the Tab A9+ still includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
That is useful for:
- Wired headphones
- School use
- Airplanes
- Low-latency gaming
Cameras
The rear camera is:
8MP with autofocus
The front camera is:
5MP
Samsung supports up to 1080p/30fps video recording.
These cameras are fine for:
- Video calls
- Scanning documents
- Basic photography
but they are not a major reason to buy the tablet.
Battery Life
The Tab A9+ uses a 7,040mAh battery.
Notebookcheck measured approximately:
15 hours 20 minutes of Wi-Fi browsing
13 hours 20 minutes of video playback
in its testing.
That is excellent endurance for an affordable 11-inch tablet.
Wi-Fi 5
Wireless connectivity includes:
Dual-band Wi-Fi 5
Bluetooth 5.1
Wi-Fi 5 is sufficient for streaming and everyday internet use, but newer Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 standards offer better performance on modern networks.
USB-C 2.0
The Tab A9+ uses USB-C, but data transfer is limited to USB 2.0 speeds.
Notebookcheck measured roughly 32MB/s using an external SSD, consistent with USB 2.0-class performance.
This is fine for charging and basic file transfers but slow for large external-storage workflows.
Thin Metal Design
The tablet measures approximately:
6.9mm thick
490g for the 5G version
Samsung uses a sleek metal-style chassis that feels more premium than many budget Android tablets.
Tab A9+ 5G vs Wi-Fi Version
| Feature | Tab A9+ 5G | Tab A9+ Wi-Fi |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 11″ 90Hz | 11″ 90Hz |
| Processor | Snapdragon 695 | Snapdragon 695 |
| RAM | 4GB / 8GB | 4GB / 8GB |
| Cellular | 5G + LTE | No |
| GPS | Yes | Yes |
| Weight | ~490g | ~480g |
| Battery | 7,040mAh | 7,040mAh |
The main reason to buy the 5G model is mobile connectivity away from Wi-Fi.

Its biggest strengths are the 11-inch 90Hz display, Snapdragon 695 processor, 5G support, quad speakers, long battery life and expandable microSD storage.
The biggest weakness of this specific configuration is the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Heavy users should consider the 8GB/128GB version instead.
For streaming, browsing, schoolwork and mobile internet access, however, the Tab A9+ 5G remains a very good budget Android tablet.
