JBL Tune 770NC Review: 70-Hour Battery and Adaptive ANC

The JBL Tune 770NC are affordable wireless over-ear headphones featuring Adaptive Noise Cancelling, Smart Ambient, JBL Pure Bass Sound, Bluetooth 5.3, and up to 70 hours of battery life.

They are designed for everyday music, commuting, travel, work, and users who want long battery life without paying premium headphone prices.

JBL Tune 770NC Specs

JBL also supports the JBL Headphones app, VoiceAware, customizable EQ and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity.

Sound Quality

The Tune 770NC use 40mm drivers with JBL Pure Bass Sound.

The sound signature emphasizes bass, making them particularly enjoyable for:

• Hip-hop
• Electronic music
• Pop
• Movies
• Podcasts
• Everyday listening

The JBL Headphones app lets you choose EQ presets or manually adjust the sound.

Adaptive Noise Cancelling

The headphones feature Adaptive Noise Cancelling with Smart Ambient.

You also get:

• Ambient Aware
• TalkThru
• Adjustable ANC through the JBL app

These modes make it easier to hear announcements or conversations without removing the headphones.

However, independent testing found that ANC struggles more with deep low-frequency noise such as airplane engines and road rumble than premium ANC headphones from Sony or Bose.

Battery Life

Battery life is one of the Tune 770NC’s biggest strengths.

JBL rates them for:

Up to 70 hours with ANC off
Up to 44 hours with ANC on

A quick 5-minute charge provides around 3 additional hours of music, while a full charge takes approximately two hours.

That makes them excellent for long trips and users who dislike frequent charging.

Bluetooth 5.3 & Multipoint

The Tune 770NC support Bluetooth 5.3 and multipoint connectivity.

You can stay connected to two devices, such as:

• Smartphone
• Laptop

and switch between them without repeatedly disconnecting and pairing.

JBL also lists LE Audio support through compatible firmware and devices.

Comfort & Portability

The headphones weigh only 232g, making them relatively lightweight for an over-ear model.

They also use a foldable, flat-fold design that makes them easier to place inside a backpack.

Independent testing found them lightweight and portable, although the earcups may feel small for users with larger ears.

Call Quality

The Tune 770NC include a built-in microphone and VoiceAware, which lets you control how much of your own voice you hear during calls.

Call quality is acceptable for everyday phone calls and online meetings, although independent testing found voices can sound somewhat thin.

Wired Listening

JBL includes a detachable audio cable.

That means you can continue using the Tune 770NC with compatible devices even when you don’t want to rely on Bluetooth.

Verdict

The JBL Tune 770NC are excellent value-focused wireless headphones for users who prioritize battery life, bass-heavy sound and useful everyday features.

Their biggest strengths are the 70-hour maximum battery life, Bluetooth multipoint, customizable EQ and lightweight foldable design.

The main compromise is noise cancellation. It works well enough for everyday environments, but it does not compete with premium ANC headphones.
