The Dell Latitude 7450 Ultralight is a business laptop built around one primary goal: provide serious enterprise productivity in a machine that is exceptionally easy to carry.
At only 2.33 pounds, the Ultralight version is considerably lighter than the standard aluminum Latitude 7450, which starts around 2.92 pounds. Dell achieves this partly through a lightweight magnesium chassis, making the Latitude 7450 Ultralight one of the most portable 14-inch business notebooks of its generation.
Inside, Dell uses Intel’s Meteor Lake Core Ultra U-series processors, up to 64GB of LPDDR5x memory, PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 and a 16:10 display. The reviewed high-end configuration commonly pairs the Core Ultra 7 165U with 32GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.
It is not perfect. The RAM is permanently soldered, every display option is limited to 60Hz, and the very light magnesium construction does not feel as rigid as heavier premium laptops.
There is also important 2026 context: Dell now sells the Dell Pro 14 Premium as its current premium 14-inch business machine, while Dell Canada lists the Latitude 7450 as unavailable. That makes the 7450 increasingly attractive as a discounted, clearance or refurbished business laptop rather than something to buy at its original premium price.

Dell’s Latitude 7450 platform supports Intel Core Ultra processors including the Core Ultra 5 125U, 135U, Core Ultra 7 155U and Core Ultra 7 165U, as well as higher-power H-series chips on other Latitude 7450 configurations. The Core Ultra 7 165U has 12 cores, 14 threads and boost speeds up to 4.9GHz.
Design: The 2.33-Pound Advantage
The defining characteristic of the Latitude 7450 Ultralight is right in the name.
Dell lists it at:
2.33 pounds / approximately 1.06 kg
with dimensions of approximately:
12.32 × 8.67 × 0.71 inches.
That is exceptionally light for a 14-inch business notebook.
By comparison, Dell’s conventional aluminum Latitude 7450 starts around 2.92 pounds, meaning the Ultralight saves more than half a pound.
That difference sounds small until you carry the computer every day.
For someone commuting between:

- airports
- client meetings
- university
- hotels
- coffee shops
the lower weight becomes one of the machine’s strongest advantages.

Magnesium Construction
Dell uses magnesium rather than conventional aluminum for the Ultralight chassis. StorageReview notes that the magnesium construction is responsible for much of the weight reduction, with recycled magnesium also used in the chassis.
The result feels different from a MacBook or aluminum XPS.
Magnesium can feel slightly more plastic-like to the touch even though it is metal.
That is not necessarily bad.
The Latitude is designed primarily as a tool rather than a luxury object.
However, the extremely low weight has one notable trade-off.
Chassis Flex Is the Biggest Design Weakness
StorageReview found noticeably more lid and chassis flex than it would have liked during testing of the Ultralight model.
This is worth considering.
The Latitude 7450 Ultralight feels incredibly light, but it does not have the tank-like rigidity of some heavier business laptops.
If you regularly throw your laptop into a heavily packed construction bag, backpack or equipment case, we would recommend using a protective sleeve.
The standard aluminum Latitude 7450 may also be preferable if maximum structural rigidity matters more than saving weight.

That is a meaningful improvement over older 16:9 business laptops.

This is an excellent combination for a business notebook.
1920 × 1200 is sharp enough on a 14-inch screen without placing unnecessary load on the GPU or battery.
400 nits is also a substantial improvement over the 250-nit screens often found in cheaper corporate laptops.
And 100% sRGB means colour quality is appropriate for much more than spreadsheets.

However, higher resolution generally increases power consumption compared with the lower-resolution Super Low Power display.
For an ultraportable business laptop, we prefer the 1920 × 1200 400-nit panel unless the additional resolution is genuinely useful to your work.
One Weakness: Everything Is 60Hz
All of Dell’s documented Latitude 7450 displays run at 60Hz.
That is acceptable for business productivity.
But by 2026, premium laptops increasingly offer:

- OLED
- variable refresh rates
A 120Hz panel would make scrolling and Windows animations noticeably smoother.
This is one of the clearest ways the Latitude 7450 shows its business-first priorities.
Dell emphasizes battery life and productivity rather than entertainment specifications.
Intel Core Ultra 7 165U Performance
The Core Ultra 7 165U is arguably the ideal processor for the Ultralight version.
It uses a 15W architecture with:

and Intel vPro Enterprise support.
This is not the highest-performance processor in the broader Latitude 7450 family, but that is intentional.
A 2.33-pound laptop benefits more from efficiency than from trying to push workstation power levels through a tiny cooling system.

You do not necessarily need the Core Ultra 7.

a Core Ultra 5 configuration is already very capable.
The Core Ultra 7 165U makes more sense for buyers who regularly perform:
- heavier multitasking
- programming
- data analysis
- larger spreadsheet work
- photo editing

If the Ultra 7 costs only slightly more, choose it.
If there is a large price difference, the Ultra 5 version can offer better value.
Intel vPro: Important for Business Buyers
Some Latitude 7450 processors, including the Core Ultra 7 165U, support Intel vPro Enterprise.
For an ordinary home user, this may mean very little.
For businesses and IT departments, it can be valuable for centralized management and enterprise deployment.
That is one of the fundamental differences between a Latitude and an ordinary consumer laptop.
The Latitude is designed not only for the employee using it but also for the IT team responsible for managing hundreds or thousands of systems.
AI and the NPU
Intel’s Meteor Lake Core Ultra platform introduced dedicated neural-processing hardware designed to accelerate certain AI workloads while consuming less power than running everything through the CPU or GPU.
The Latitude 7450 therefore belongs to Intel’s first major generation of AI-focused mobile processors.
However, buyers should understand that it predates the much stronger NPUs found in newer Copilot+ platforms.
In 2026, Dell’s current Dell Pro 14 Premium uses newer Core Ultra processors and is sold as a Copilot+ PC.
So the 7450 has useful AI acceleration, but AI capability is not the main reason to buy it today.
Graphics Performance
Core Ultra U-series Latitude 7450 configurations use Intel integrated graphics rather than a dedicated GPU. Dell reserves Intel Arc branding for compatible H-series configurations in the broader 7450 family.
The integrated graphics are perfectly adequate for:

but the Latitude Ultralight is clearly not designed as a graphics workstation.

The integrated graphics can handle lighter titles such as:

RAM Is Soldered
The memory is integrated directly onto the system board and cannot be upgraded.
This is the biggest upgradeability weakness.

It may not match the very best modern ARM or Lunar Lake ultraportables, but 12 hours of productivity testing is enough to make the Latitude a legitimate all-day machine for many users.
The efficient display option is especially important here.

The presence of HDMI is another welcome feature.
You can connect the Latitude directly to:

without carrying an HDMI dongle. Dell’s current documentation identifies the integrated connection as HDMI 2.1.
For business travelers, this can make presentations substantially less frustrating.
Two USB-A Ports
Dell also includes two conventional USB-A ports.

One notable omission is a media-card reader.
Dell’s official documentation lists no integrated media-card reader on the Latitude 7450.
That is not a major problem for typical business users.
Photographers, however, will need an external USB reader.

The Latitude 7450 was unusually forward-looking for its generation.
Dell supports the Intel BE200 Wi-Fi 7 adapter with Bluetooth 5.4.

You need a Wi-Fi 7 router and suitable network connection to benefit from maximum speeds, but the Latitude itself is ready.

StorageReview found the keyboard comfortable for long typing sessions, although it noted the unusual half-height up/down arrow-key arrangement.

Security is one area where the Latitude’s business DNA becomes more important.
Depending on configuration, Dell offered features including:

These features may sound excessive to a home user, but for corporate IT departments they can be major purchasing considerations.

Cooling and Fan Noise
A lightweight chassis does not provide much room for cooling, yet the 7450 performs relatively well in this area.
Independent testing found the Core Ultra U-series version generally quiet and efficient, with StorageReview noting relatively little thermal and noise activity from its efficiency-focused Ultralight configuration.
LaptopMedia also found its Latitude 7450 capable of maintaining respectable CPU clocks under long workloads without excessive fan noise.
This is another reason the U-series processor makes sense.
Trying to turn a 2.33-pound laptop into a workstation would compromise thermals, acoustics and battery life.
Dell instead gives it enough performance for its intended business workload.

The primary issue is price.
Because Latitude models are business machines, they can be expensive when purchased new.

For website work, the Latitude 7450 is excellent.
A Core Ultra 5 or Ultra 7 combined with 16GB or 32GB of memory can comfortably run:

Dell Latitude 7450 for Photo Editing
Choose the display carefully.
The 400-nit 100% sRGB Ultralight panel is substantially better suited to Photoshop and Lightroom than Dell’s cheaper 45% NTSC screen.
With the right panel, the Latitude can work well for:

- social media
- moderate RAW editing
The lack of a built-in SD reader is inconvenient, however.
Professional photographers may still prefer an OLED or wider-gamut creative laptop.
Dell Latitude 7450 for Video Editing
Light and moderate video editing is possible.
Core Ultra processors, integrated graphics and up to 64GB of memory provide enough capability for:

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the most obvious rival.
StorageReview compared the two with the same Core Ultra 7 165U processor and found very similar overall CPU performance. The ThinkPad achieved somewhat better battery life in its test and was judged to have the stronger chassis, while Dell’s machine remained extremely competitive and slightly lighter.
Choose Latitude 7450 if you value:
