Picture Quality
OLED remains the C4’s biggest advantage.
Each pixel can switch itself completely off, producing:
- Perfect blacks
- Excellent contrast
- No blooming around bright objects
- Strong HDR impact
- Excellent viewing angles
RTINGS found the C4 especially strong for movies thanks to perfect blacks, vibrant colours and excellent overall accuracy.
83-Inch OLED Experience
At 83 inches, the C4 is designed for large living rooms and dedicated home theaters.
The massive screen makes movies, sports and games far more immersive than typical 55- or 65-inch TVs.
Because OLED pixels are individually controlled, you still get excellent black levels across the entire screen without traditional backlight zones.
Dolby Vision HDR
Unlike many Samsung TVs, the LG C4 supports Dolby Vision.
It also supports:
- HDR10
- HLG
- Dolby Vision
- Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode
LG specifically highlights Dolby Vision and Filmmaker Mode as key C4 cinema features.
144Hz Gaming
Gaming performance is one of the C4’s biggest strengths.
It supports:
- 4K at up to 144Hz
- NVIDIA G-SYNC
- AMD FreeSync Premium
- HDMI Forum VRR
- Auto Low Latency Mode
- 0.1ms response time
- Game Optimizer
RTINGS found input lag extremely low and motion exceptionally clear thanks to the OLED panel’s nearly instantaneous response time.
Four HDMI 2.1 Ports
All four HDMI inputs support full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth.
That makes the C4 ideal for users connecting several modern devices, such as:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X
- Gaming PC
- AV receiver or soundbar
This is a major advantage over TVs that provide only one or two full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports.
PS5 & Xbox Performance
The C4 supports the major gaming features offered by current consoles.
RTINGS confirms compatibility with:
PlayStation 5
- 4K/120Hz
- VRR
- HDR
- ALLM
Xbox Series X
- 4K/120Hz
- FreeSync
- VRR
- Dolby Vision gaming
- ALLM
PC gamers can go even further and use 4K/144Hz with a compatible graphics card.
Brightness
The C4 is brighter than the older C3 generation in HDR, helping bright highlights stand out more strongly.
LG also uses Brightness Booster technology to increase OLED brightness.
However, very bright Mini LED TVs can still outperform the C4 in rooms with strong sunlight.
RTINGS also notes that HDR brightness drops noticeably when using Game Optimizer mode.
α9 AI Processor Gen7
The α9 AI Processor Gen7 handles image processing, upscaling and sound optimization.
LG includes:
- AI Picture Pro
- AI Super Upscaling
- AI Sound Pro
- Content optimization
Independent testing found the C4 very good at upscaling lower-resolution video and cleaning up compressed content.
Dolby Atmos Audio
The C4 includes a 40W 2.2-channel speaker system and supports Dolby Atmos.
LG’s AI Sound Pro can virtually expand sound into a wider 9.1.2-channel-style presentation.
Built-in audio is good for everyday use, but a dedicated soundbar or surround system makes more sense for an 83-inch home-theater TV.
webOS Smart TV
The C4 runs LG’s webOS smart platform with access to popular streaming services and LG Channels.
LG also includes its webOS Re program, promising up to five years of software updates for this generation.

Verdict
The LG C4 83-inch OLED evo is an excellent premium TV for movies, gaming and large-screen home theater setups.
Its biggest advantages are the enormous OLED display, perfect blacks, Dolby Vision, extremely fast response time and 4K/144Hz gaming across four HDMI 2.1 ports.
The main drawbacks are its premium price and lower peak brightness compared with the brightest Mini LED TVs.
Since the newer LG C5 is now available, the C4 becomes especially attractive when heavily discounted.
