Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Review: Smart ANC Earbuds Powered by Tensor A1

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are premium wireless earbuds designed for Pixel and Android users who want strong Active Noise Cancellation, Google AI, Spatial Audio, long battery life, and a compact comfortable fit.

Powered by Google’s Tensor A1 chip, they combine Silent Seal 2.0 ANC, Adaptive Audio, Gemini integration and an 11mm custom driver.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 Specs

Sound Quality

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 use a custom 11mm dynamic driver with a redesigned acoustic system.

Google says Tensor A1 separates audio playback from ANC processing, helping preserve sound quality while noise cancellation is active.

They work especially well for:

• Music
• Podcasts
• Movies
• Calls
• Commuting
• Everyday listening

The Pixel Buds app also includes a 5-band EQ for adjusting sound to your preference.

Active Noise Cancellation

Noise cancellation is one of the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s strongest features.

Google uses Silent Seal 2.0 and Tensor A1 to continuously process surrounding noise, and says ANC is up to twice as effective as on the original Pixel Buds Pro.

They are particularly useful for:

• Public transportation
• Flights
• Offices
• Coffee shops
• Studying

Adaptive Audio

Pixel Buds Pro 2 also support Adaptive Audio.

Instead of completely blocking your surroundings, Adaptive Audio automatically balances ANC and Transparency Mode depending on environmental noise.

There is also Loud Noise Protection, designed to reduce sudden loud sounds while keeping you aware of your surroundings.

Spatial Audio

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Spatial Audio with head tracking on compatible devices.

This creates a more immersive experience for:

• Movies
• TV shows
• Compatible music
• Games

Head tracking adjusts the soundstage as you move your head.

Gemini AI

Pixel Buds Pro 2 integrate deeply with Gemini.

You can use Gemini Live hands-free for tasks such as asking questions, getting directions and interacting with supported Google services without constantly taking out your phone.

Google also lists real-time translation and additional voice-controlled earbud settings as part of its September 2026 feature rollout, so availability can depend on device, language and software version.

Call Quality

Each earbud includes:

• Three microphones
• Voice accelerometer
• Wind-blocking mesh
• Clear Calling
• Bluetooth Super Wideband

Google uses AI processing to improve speech clarity and reduce background noise during calls.

Battery Life

Battery life is excellent for premium ANC earbuds.

Google rates them for:

Up to 8 hours with ANC on
Up to 30 hours total with ANC and charging case
Up to 12 hours with ANC off
Up to 48 hours total with ANC off

A quick 5-minute charge can provide roughly 1–1.5 hours of listening, depending on ANC use.

Wireless Charging

The charging case supports both:

• USB-C charging
• Qi wireless charging

The case also includes a speaker that can ring through Google Find Hub when you are trying to locate it.

Comfort & Fit

Google redesigned the Pro 2 to be smaller and lighter than the original Pixel Buds Pro.

Each earbud weighs only 4.7g and includes a twist-to-adjust stabilizer for switching between a more secure workout fit and a more relaxed everyday fit.

Four ear-tip sizes are included.

Water Resistance

The earbuds carry an IP54 rating, while the charging case is rated IPX4.

They are suitable for:

• Gym workouts
• Sweat
• Light rain
• Everyday outdoor use

They are not designed for swimming.

Multipoint Connectivity

Pixel Buds Pro 2 support multipoint connectivity, allowing them to stay connected to multiple compatible devices and switch between them.

This is useful for users who regularly move between a laptop and smartphone.
